EASY Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
July 16th is NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY!
Celebrate the occasion by making this FIVE ingredient homemade vanilla ice cream! If you’re like me, you registered for that ice cream maker with the best of intentions. Time to pull it out of the back of the pantry, dust it off, and take her for a spin. It’s such a fun and simple process… I’m questioning why I waited so long to try it. This recipe is your classic vanilla, but towards the end of the churning process, you can mix in anything! Next time, it will be cookies and cream at the Cirino house.
The night before, throw the bowl of your ice cream maker into the freezer. Some will freeze in less than 6 hours, but it’s best to put it in the night before to ensure it’s nice and frozen.
The next day, mix the ingredients and pour them into the ice cream maker. Unlike many ice cream recipes, this one doesn’t require any cooking or any eggs! After about 20-30 minutes of churning, it will be nice and thick. Pour it into a container and freeze to your liking!
This recipe yields one quart.
Ingredients
3/4 cups organic, raw sugar
2 tbsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp kosher salt or sea salt
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups whole milk
Instructions
Freeze the bowl of your ice cream maker for 6+ hours
Mix all ingredients in a large measuring cup
Pour into the frozen bowl and process according to your ice cream maker’s instructions (I let mine churn for about 20 minutes)
At this point, you can add any toppings (oreos?!?! yes)
Pour the ice cream into a quart size container and freeze until scoopable
ENJOY!
