Fall-off-the-Bone Ribs

Father’s Day is right around the corner! If you’re looking for the ultimate Dad-pleasing dinner - I’ve got you covered! My slow cooked ribs are to DIE for and come out perfect every single time. They are absolutely fool proof, so if you’ve never made ribs before - fear not!

To start, pat the ribs nice and dry and mix up your dry rub. Then brush with dijon mustard and coat liberally with the dry rub. Pop them into crockpot with a little liquid for 8 hours on low. Low and slow is KEY. We finish things off with a quick grill or broil with lots and lots of barbeque sauce to ensure the end result is a perfectly sticky crust. These ribs fall off the bone every time. I think the secret ingredient here is the dijon mustard. Mustard is acidic and acts as a tenderizer; helping the meat break down and hence, slipping right off the bone. If you make these ribs, please let me know what you think!! No dad will be disappointment when these are on the menu!

Ingredients:

  • 1 or 2 slabs of your favorite cut of ribs

  • Dijon Mustard

  • 1/2 cup liquid (water, beer, pop)

  • BBQ sauce of choice (I use Sweet Baby Rays)

  • Dry Rub

    • 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar

    • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

    • 1 tsp Onion Powder

    • 1 tsp Paprika

    • 1 tsp Chili Powder

    • 1 tsp Kosher Salt or Sea Salt

    • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Pat the ribs dry with a paper towel.

  2. Mix dry rub ingredients and set aside.

  3. Brush one side of the ribs liberally with dijon mustard and coat with 1/2 of the dry rub mix. Press it in so it sticks.

  4. Flip the slab over and repeat Step 3 on the other side.

  5. Fold the slab into a half circle and place into the crock pot. Only one end of the ribs should be touching the bottom of your crockpot.

  6. Pour 1/2 cup of liquid into the center of the crock (avoid getting liquid directly on the ribs).

  7. Cover and set to low for 8 hours.

  8. After 8 hours, carefully remove the slabs with tongs (they will be falling apart and bones will be visible) and place onto a baking sheet lined with tin foil.

  9. Brush the ribs liberally with sauce. I like to repeat these a few times to ensure max absorption.

  10. Grill for 2-3 minutes per side OR broil on high for 2-3 minutes. Brushing with sauce until ribs are caramelized.

  11. ENJOY the best ribs you’ve ever tasted!!!!
