All is Calm
November was a hustle. Much like my growing baby bump, my schedule was reaching max capacity. As the month began, I would just stare at the calendar and question whether I could do it all - keep allll the plates spinning, maintain my sanity, and still prioritize family life and the health of my growing baby. So, like any mom on a mission, I grit my teeth, took each day as it came, and the result was actually a month filled with joy.
Have you ever heard the saying, “If you want something done, give it to someone who is already busy?” Well, that makes me your gal. I had a blast taking holiday photos for so many amazing families and also managed squeezed in some time to take my own. We checked off almost everyone on our Christmas list (are you ever really done Christmas shopping?), moved our son out of the nursery and into his new room, washed the baby clothes and packed the hospital bags. Right or wrong, I decided to just jam as many tasks into an already busy month with the hope that in December, I could settle in to the Christmas season with a deep sigh of relief. Not sure if that’s the best advice, but it’s what works for me.
I’m happy to report that December has arrived and so have I! All the galleries have been delivered and I’m just about ready to put my camera away for a while as we prepare for the birth of Jesus AND the birth of this baby! My plans this month include baking (and eating) a TON of cookies, making homemade gifts (more to come on that!), creating new Christmas traditions with my family, and just taking some time to rest and reflect on 2022’s many blessings.
I’ll admit, I wasn’t initially thrilled with the idea of having a baby in January - it’s historically been my least favorite month of the year. There’s just something sad about taking down all the Christmas decorations and knowing there is still a long stretch of winter ahead. But now I’m starting to love the idea of bringing home a baby during a season that presents itself with nothing to do and no where to go. Many times during the craziness of last month, I would day dream about being postpartum (I know, right?), staying in my pajamas all day and just hanging at home with my babies. It’s been such a busy, full year and I could use a good dose of some lazy days and newborn snuggles. The fact that in my mind, having a baby sounds like giving myself a break should give you an idea as to what kind of year it’s been!
While on “maternity leave,” I still plan to blog whenever inspiration strikes and continue to share homemaking content on my instagram…and plenty of baby spam - you’ve been warned! Before we know it, winter will melt into spring, and I’ll be itching to pick up my camera and get back out there - so be on the look out for available booking dates and information on spring mini sessions! In the meantime, thank you for being here and following along. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a bright, sparkly New Year!
