Hello It’s Me…

Welcome to my first blog post! How the HECK did I get here? As I launch this new venture, I thought it would help if I shared a little about my journey thus far. Well, it all started when my son finally started sleeping through the night and I started to feel human again. I figured that I had gotten so used to functioning on so little sleep, that I might as well capitalize on my new talent and start waking up before the rest of my house to get a jump start on the day. I had no idea that it would be the greatest gift I’d ever give myself. Alone with my thoughts for the first time in almost a year, I was able to tune in to my life in a way I never had before and I was finally able to settle in to what’s been on my heart for so long.

So… here I am. 32-years old and starting something new. I always had this feeling that motherhood would reveal God’s true plan for my life. I knew that my passion and purpose lied in being a mother and prayed that a business venture would present itself once I had entered this chapter of my life. As always, God’s timing was perfect. I quickly realized during those quiet mornings alone in my kitchen, that as a parent, all you want to do is freeze time. Savor the moment. Soak it all in. Not forget a single thing about this magical, hectic, messy, beautiful season of life. And it turns out, photography is one of the best ways to do just that. We can’t stop the passing of time, but we can freeze it in a photo, and help us remember - the tiny fingers, the messy hair, the goofy smile. I realized that I wanted to make a career out of giving every family that gift - to truly capture the season they’re in. So, I’d like you to meet someone- Brittany Cirino, The Heartland Family Photographer.

Why the “Heartland?” —I absolutely love living in the midwest and raising a family here. The family values, the changing seasons, the food — it’s just about the homiest place there is and I am so proud to call this little town of Willoughby, Ohio my home. When I think of the characteristics of the Heartland, I think of the type of pictures I love capturing most - beauty in the every day. Real people, real homes, real photos — real life. Anyone can slap on a white-washed preset in Lightroom and call it a day. I want people to look back on their family portraits and be transported back to that period of time and remember it vividly. Over-edited photos won’t give you that - but real photos will.

I will leave you with this (for those who are still reading, thank you!) — my mantra for 2022 has been “progress over perfection.” I truly believe that if you set your sights on just doing one thing at a time, one day at a time you can accomplish just about anything. So, if you’ve ever pondered diving into something new, I highly recommend that you focus on progress. My website will never be “perfect” and I certainly will NEVER be “ready” to put myself out there like I am right now, but if not now, when? If not me, who?
